Stupid question...how-to for changing pads?

Hey, guys...

I'm new to this, so please bear with me. I'm in the process of learning how to work on my '02, and on cars in general. I need a new set of brake pads, and was wondering if there was a good place I could find a how-to. (I'm still waiting on a factory service manual, which I asume covers it.)

Thanks for the noob help, everyone.

the factory service manual should cover it, but its a pretty simple procedure. pull the wheels, then unbolt the two bolts that hold the caliper to the suspension arm. once you've got the caliper unbolted, slide it off and rest it on something, don't let it dangle from the brake line. pull the pads out, and press the pistons back into the caliper. slip the new brake pads in, and bolt the caliper back on. i seem to recall that the bolts are supposed to be torqued to about 30-35ft-lbs. i think http://www.scoobymods.com might have a step by step how-to with photos.

On the bottom of the caliper is bolt that goes across it. Take the nut off (on the wheel well side) and then pull the bolt out. Now you can rotate the caliper up on the upper bolt, like hinge. Once the caliper is pulled up, the pads are right there ready to be slipped out. Take them out. Use some brake cleaner to clean the whole area for good measure. You could probabaly get rid of those stock rattle clips. Get some good anti-squeak grease or spray and spray the BACK of the new pats. Slip them in. But the caliper back down and bolt down. Don't over-tighten.

- You don't have to do the front and back in the same sitting, but YOU MUST DO LEFT AND RIGHT pads in the set(s) you choose to do.

- Since its your first time, just do the front or rear first. Put it all back together and test it out. If you feel confident that you got it right with no big weird noises or brake failures, to the other set.

- Always test conservatively. Roll along slowly, cautious stop. A bit faster cautious stop... normal drive, slow stop... then a little harder, etc. Don't over do the harshness in testing.

- Be nice to your new pads for a while for proper break-in
