Stupid Stupid people!! first dent on the car.

Well, the 2005 STi got damaged not too long ago. THe car is in SF with my brother and I'm in Davis for school. He told me he parked the car at the Home Depot and when he came back he noticed a huge dent on the left fender. This is the first major damage to the car. I know some of you, or most of you, love your cars and want the best for it. Do you guys know around how much it will be to fix something like this? Is it in the 100s or 1000s? Very sad day, but atleast the car isn't total. When my brother IM'ed me and said "bad news about the STi" I thought he crashed it, lol. Anyways, how much to fix, and does anyone know a super good repair shop for something like this. I live in the Sunset/Parkside but any where in SF or close to SF is fine. I searched a found a lot of different topics on shop recommendation outside of SF, does anyone know a good one around where I live?

do the more popular shops on these forums like Gruppe-S or MPJ or Lic do dents? =D

Right on a body line too....that sucks.

You should have your brother have dent pro (or something similar) take a look at it.
I wouldn't expect to pay more than $300-$500 on it.

Ughh.. my first dent was also on my fender, but nowhere near as bad. I was wondering, if we crank the wheel to lock, would the tire sticking out prevent fender dings?

Do u know any dent pro's or have their numbers? We don't have any idea where to start. He's gonna go to some shop we have no info about to get an estimate.

STi-owns-evo thats not a bad idea except I thikn it was a door that did this, not sure though.

It looks more like a 2x4 or something similar did this. I couldn't imagine a door doing that much damage. I was up in Idaho the summer before last at the local grocery store and I parked at the far end of the lot where nobody else was, and sure enough, a very old man pulled up in his mid 80's Ford truck (that didn't have a straight piece of sheetmetal on it, might I add) not more than 2 feet away from mine and KICKED his door open onto mine. Luckily I saw the whole incident with my dad and we walked over and kindly asked for his insurance. Point being, the dent wasn't really big for taking that much force, although the paint was gone.

That looks pretty impossible to get out without getting new paint on it. I would estimate about $500 to get it fixed, e.g. respraying the whole fender and matching it. $200 to get the bends smooth again, $300 for paint & work. That's just what I think.

Would it be cheaper to find a replaced fender that's prepainted and just swap them?

i had the same thing happen to my door and it cost 850

I remember telling you on another thread, becausey ou asked the same question, that I made this handle way before they discontinued the GTR. Now we all have our handles that we stick with for everything...like our emails, aims, forum handles, game handles, and I never really changed it. I want to change it but I think Imprezer has better things to do.

My brother went to a shop and they said it'll be like 300 bucks to use the machine that sucks the dents and pop it back and repaint i doubt it'll look good as new or the other option is the 1200 insurance option which will be replacing the fender.

newyrokreload - did you relpace the whole door and repaint? did u not want to just get the dent out because it'll be hard to match paint and it wont look as new?

any shop recommendations?

Pretty sure that's not from a door as well. Every door ding I have ever seen has been a fine line either vertical or at an angle.

I'd agree with the statement above about it being something along the lines of a 2x4 or something blunt ended. No way the person that did that couldn't have known. Gotta love people sometimes.

the dent pro guy around me (93901) has been noted as doing a pretty damn good job pulling all sorts of dents plus painting. I'm sure you'll be able to find someone to get this taken care of by.

I would definately go to several auto body shops and get estimates. See if any one can refer you to a good shop, then see if repairing is cheaper than replacing.
