strut top 17mm bolt how??
This isn’t the best way but I have heard of people using a strap wrench on the shaft to stop it from spinning. If you do this be very careful not to damage/scratch the shaft.

I took a socket cut a hole in the side and along with a allen wrench it works fine or Sears has the ratchet/socket set that the ratchet has a hole in the head and wiht a t-handle allen wrench that should work fine too.

I do springs all the time and I use a 3/8" impact from sears. Works everythime. Compressors are not necessary on WRX springs, they are not stiff enough to "pop" off and damage anything. The fronts just do a small jump, about 3", the rears don't jump at all. Make sure you get everything lined up properly when installing for alignments sake. The front has 3 holes on the upper perch and the middle one has to line up with the center of the bracket of the strut. The rear upper perch has an arrow that is supposed to line up with the barcket like the front does. I usually cut the bump stops in half when putting them back in for an increase in travel but that's a debatable subject.
