STI V7/V8 Spec C vs. KYB AGX w/ Progress Springs

Hey, I'm looking for a little insight from everyone here as to what they think would be a better suspension set up for my 02 WRX. I'm looking at getting something pretty soon and want to stay away from coilovers as I hear they can be a bit harsh and a little extreme for everyday driving plus I doubt I'd even use all the performance they offer that often. So I'm looking at either the STI takeoff suspension, either the version 7 or 8 spec c, what exactly is the difference between 7/8? I've also heard good things about the KYB's with springs and I was looking at either the progress or perrin springs. How would either set up compare to eachother and what does everyone reccomend? I don't mind a stiff ride and like the adjustability factor of the KYB's, but I see the STI takeoffs seem popular here too. Any input would be cool. Thanks.

For a street car, I would go with STi takeoffs. There isn't any difference between v7 and v8, but I think I would skip the Spec Cs- they are pretty stiff, as they are intended to be track cars.

the spec-c struts and springs really aren't that bad for a daily driver, at least in my opinion. they take a little getting used to compared to the stock suspension, since they are significantly stiffer. i've had them on my car for the last 7k miles or so, and i really like 'em.

i don't have any experience with the KYBs, so i can't comment there.

They at times have 1-3 sets in the warehouse. I don't remember seeing anything there lately though. give them a call.

i think rallispec.com has them pretty regularly too, though i think gruppe-s would be cheaper.

what does it mean to be a "take off" and is the spec-C the same as the RA springs? does anyone know how much the spec-C springs lower the car?

a "take off" is an OEM part taken off a car when it is replaced with something else, usually when the part is brand new. in this case, the "take off" is a brand new (or low mileage) set of Struts, springs, and tophats.

the spec-c springs only lower the car about 1/4" or so, i know because i have them on my car.

A british mag recently rated the UKDM V8 Sti Spec-C to be better handling than the ultra-rare BMW M3 CSL, if that means anything to you...but it's more than just the springs & struts...
