Cool Steering problems

Hey y'all,

I'm new to the forums, I've been looking around for a month or so and reading posts but never registered. I think this is the right forum for this...

I'm a Florida boy--with no winter driving experience whatsoever--going to school in NC, and the first time I drove my WRX in snow, i slid around an icy turn at about 15 mph and curbed it. Yeah, I know i'm a dumbass. Anyway, that was about 6 months ago. I took it to a shop certified by USAA insurance, and since there was no body damage or frame damage, all they had to do was replace an a-arm, a shock, and a wheel (on the left front side). They followed that by an alignment. About a week afterwards, the tread on my RE92's reached critical level, so I replaced them with Yokohamas (Same size, same rating).

Here's my problem. At highway speeds (60mph and higher), the car pulls to the left. (There's no problem at around-town speeds). Then, at parking lot speeds (15mph and lower), the steering does not auto-center when the wheel is turned left. It feels like it would if there was low pressure in the tires. However, it does auto-center when turned to the right. I took the car back to the shop that did the repairs. They held it for about a week, then returned it to me and said "We took it to two different alignment shops and they both said it was within specs. Then we rotated the tires, and it pulled to the right. There must be a difference in diameter on your tires." Well, the car still pulled to the left, so I asked if they put the tires back on the original side of the car. "Umm, yeah, we did."

Anyway, I guess my question is...what do I do?? Subaru's are famed for their tight and excellent steering, and I've gone and messed mine all to hell. I just bought a set of 17" Maxxim E-Racers with Toyo's (I'm waiting on delivery), so when I put them on and get it aligned, I'll see if that makes a difference, but I have a feeling it won't. I know there's some Subaru tech's that are on this board, so I guess I'm just looking for any ideas as to what it might be.

Thanks a lot for any help you can give.

Did you replace all of your tires? If you did, try swapping the front right wheel with the left and see if it pulls to the right like they said it did. If it still pulls to the left they probly didnt allign it correctly or replace all of the needed parts.
