squeky brakes
Is any one out there experiencing the same brake problem that I am having. My brake release this horrible banshee-like squeking (spelling?) sound but only when rolling backwards, it's too big of a deal but I waas wondering if anybody else is experiencing this???
happens every time i back up.....then i got to reading the owners manual......and in a nut shell it says to deal with the fact the car may have noisy brakes............now i can't sneak out of my garage without waking up my wife
E-brake may be the problem
Just a thought, but you may want to check the emergency brake shoes in the back brakes and the mechanism. Like dragging a peice of chalk or pushing it across a blackboard. The angles mean every for quiet operation. Make sure springs and release mechanisms are letting go properly and that no dust is inside.
Baking the rotors by stopping from higher speed will clean the discs but not the little E-brake drum inside the rear disc rotors.
Like I say, just a thought. Good luck.

I think they squeak more while backing up is because they wear a certain way going forward all the time and when you back up they are going against they way they are worn I hope this makes sense. Thats kinda how the squealing while reversing was explained to me..

I fixed the squealing by switching pads minium to no noise while backing up and the grinding noise of the stock STI pads is gone even with rust on the calipers after washing or getting wet....

high performance pads make noise. change to a different material and it will be more quiet. however performance might not be the same. i was thinking about trying something like a ceramic pad. . . not sure if they have em for the brembo setup. my friend has them on his camaro ss. the only problem is that his rotors tend to warp more quickly.
oh... and yes...there is nothing wrong with it. basically the back pads are used less and are not as evenly worn as the front pads. thats why when backing up(when more pressure is added on rear) you hear that wailing and embarrasing(mind you) screech. one way to leviate that is to brake harder more often...but thats kind of pointless in my opinion.
^^ thats how it was described to me by our service advisor.
