rs to wrx brake swap question
does the wrx use the same front brake caliper as the 98-01 rs? also does the h6 uses the same rear caliper as an rs. i was looking here http://www.subaruwrxparts.com/per-gc8-braking.html and saw the rs to wrx and rs to h6 brake swap and want to get them. i realize it says "everything you need" but i just want to make sure you dont need any additional parts. are there any slotted brake rotors for the h6 because i would probably only get the brackets and not the rotors because i want slotted rotors on all 4 corners. if anybody has either setup post any and all comments you have on it.

The RS to WRX swap is a straight bolt-on. You just need calipers, pads, and discs. You can find used WRX front brake kits from people who have upgraded for pretty cheap. I sold mine with extra pads for $200. I don't have anymore, sorry.

Not 100% sure of my measurements, but I think its like 10.6in Vs 11.2in or something like that (again, not 100% sure, but the WRX rotors are about .5" larger in diam.) Not sure of the rear H6 vs stock rear diam.
As for the brake swap heres the whole deal:
98-01RS / 02WRX: Uses old style calipers, and brake pads.
02+RS / 03+WRX: Uses NEW style calipers and pads.
the two types are NOT COMPATABLE (as in you cant take an 03WRX caliper and bolt it up to an 02 WRX caliper bracket)
other than that...you should be fine. The WRX rotors are the same for all years, so you can get any year WRX rotor. Good luck, and hope it works out for ya!

ok, after spending too much time searching for the brake rotor sizes on forums and getting different numbers i got smart and went to subaru's site. i dont know if the new rs's use the same size rotors as the gc but the rs size i quote is for the new ones.
front wrx-11.4
rs-10.7
rear h6-11.3
rs-10.3
front wrx-11.4
rs-10.7
rear h6-11.3

Have a look here:
http://www.subaruwrxparts.com/tuneup.html
Notice the same part is used on the RS and WRX for the rear brake rotor
