Hi, I am thinking to buy a Subaru coversion brake calipers + Project Mu brake pads + brambo rotors....can they all fit on my WRX 02 with 17" wheel?

if it won't fit....what do you suggest the best big brake system for 2002 WRX? My budget it's about 1500 for the front.

Hey I'm not sure how that set up might fit but I went ahead and threw some links in to different calipers that should fit 17" rims at under $1500. Can't really comment on how good they are but atleast you can see some options.

Not all 17" rims will fit over big brake kits. Confirm the clearance by contacting wheel manufacturer/distributor or by carefully measuring by making a template supplied by some brake kit manufacturers.

When I see subies (non-STi) at the track (road course), a popular mod seems to be the StopTech big brake kit. Perfectly engineered for both the street-driven and race subie.

most 17's will fit the kits out there for our cars, with the right offset of course

Hey, right now I am using a system similar to the 4-piston Wilwoods, Wilwood actually made a set that Perrin used and I have those. The reason I didn't list any stoptechs is that the cheapest I have seen them on average is around $1600+ so with your criteria in mind, I left them out. You can find a cheap set of used stoptechs that would be pretty good, I have heard only good things about them. There are also used sets of STi Brembo's which aren't that bad, definately an upgrade from the WRX set.

You certainly cannot make blanket statements like that. As Wingless Wonder alluded to, it depends on the wheel design (i.e. spoke design/clearance, offset, etc.). If you go on StopTech's web site, you can download a template to measure caliper clearance (for their BBKs).

Aside from that, if you have any of the wheels listed here (under the 2004 STi), they should fit with the Brembos;

You have several options to choose......Brembo, Rotora, Stoptech, AP, Wilwood, Racing Brake, etc. I just went through this myself but had no limitations on wheel size. I'd stay away from both Rotora and Wilwood. From what I've heard and read on the internet, you pay over $1000 for mediocre performance at best. Wilwoods have no dust seals either. I ordered Stoptechs but they're having MASSIVE delays in production. They anticipated 4 mos. (after screwing me around quite awhile) to ship out my brake kit. So they're out. AP kits are a possibility though I've heard of installation problems. Racing Brake has pretty good reviews and you can't go wrong with Brembo.

My suggestion.......either go with an STI Brembo setup or spend a little extra jing and get the Brembo GT 328mm kit. You're already spending $1500, why not spend $400 more and get the best!
