Rear brake pads
I just replaced my rear brake pads 2002 WRX at 45,000 miles at the dealer. They were 90% worn. Is this normal life for these and why would the rear wear out before the front? Just an aside - the dealer wanted $23 to replace a license plate bulb for my car to pass inspection!

i don't think that qualifies as 'normal life.' i just pulled the rear pads off my car, and there was plenty of pad left after a track day, autocrosses, and lots of spirited driving during my car's 25k miles.
in fact, i would say that i took more pad material off a set of Carbotech fronts in 5-7k miles than i did off the stock rears the entire time i had them.

I'd also have to say that's pretty abnormal. I had my stock brakes on for 36,000 miles and my rear pads looked practically new. I could only guess that you like to drive in reverse a lot and slam on the brakes to get the rears to wear out before the fronts...
