Opinions on Cobb brake pads

I need some new pads since they are one of the things that got killed by Laguna Seca a while back

I'm looking at the CObb apds because of the good price and the fact that I trust Cobb. Who has these and how do you like them? How dusty are they and are they loud? These will definitely be used for rally-x and maybe auto-x and another few track days.

TIA

cobb makes brake pads? i would assume that they're rebranded brand-x, since i doubt a small outfit like them could have their own production.

why not try some more well known pads? e.g. hawk hps, carbotech bobcats, ferodo 2500, etc?

I was going with them because of price, but now I see that the Hawk HPS pads from suby dude are only $15 more for the whole set...so I may just go with those

Spend your money wisely and go for what works best. Get a set of carbotech bobcats for the street and xp's for the track. Ask for Matt and he will set you up. They are more expensive but you won't need to by pads for a long time.

Cobb pads suck - who knows waht re-branded stuff they sell - and the fact they won't tell should be enough to warn you.

Hawk HPS/Bobcats are the best street pads out there

Track pads - Carbotech/Ferrodo/Hawk - pick the right ones and smile

Carbotechs are a bit less aggressive on rotors/dust - but can be tricky to bed in and don't last as long as Hawk or Ferrodo.

JDM stuff is good - but can be a pain to get...

PFC and Porterfield are also good but again can be harder to get.

EBC/Axxis - not worth considering

Just to clarify - Both Bobcats and XP 8, 9,10 &11's are made by Carbotech. The nice thing about going with the Bobcat for street and the XP8 for track is that they are similar materials so they work well together and rebedding is minimized. Check out the operating temp range of the XP8's it's like 250 - 1300 so you can use them for auto-x as well as hpde track use.

By having a decated street and track pad you can maximize your performance and extend the life of the pads by using it for it's intended purpose.

The best thing is call Carbotech Matt and see what he suggest for your needs.
