Brake Pads and brake fluids?
I've got SS lines and Motul rbf dot 4 brake fluids, and i'm wondering is it ok to replace the dot 3 brake fluid with dot 4 for the 2004 Sti, I know that i have too flush the system out before putting in new fluid. I'm just wondering will it hurt the brake system if i upgrade to dot 4? Also i'm planning to get new brake pads soon but i dont have a clue which brake pads are good for driving hard once in a while and also for daily driving? Thanks

There should be no ill effects from swithching to Motul RBF 600. It's DOT 5 brake fluid that you shouldn't put in your car.
As for brake pads, check if Hawk HPS are available for your car. If you don't mind the dusting, I've heard good things about Axxis pads as well.

If you aren't open tracking or running hard down mountains, your stock pads are fine. Fluid and stainless stell lines are still a great upgrade though. Try sticking to your stock pads for a while. If you aren't noticing any fade, then you'll be saving a small fortune. Pads for the STi are stupid expensive considering how many cars it shares them with.

Very sticky tires will likely give you better performance in reducing stoping distance then the aftermarket pads on stocker tires would anyway... That is assuming you haven't changed tires yet.
That said I like my Carbotech Bobcats alot, and would reccomend them to anyone.
