Question Does anyone else have this problem?

Hey,

Does anyone else out there have this problem?

I've got an 03 WRX sedan. On occassions while turning and usually at slow speeds, there is a single, but very noticeable "pop" that comes from the right rear end. It has done it since I bought the car new.

I've taken it to the dealer several times and they can't duplicate it and have no idea what it could be. I don't think it's a BIG problem, it's just one of those sounds that will drive yor crazy over time. The thing is I'm running out of warrenty.

Has anyone heard this sound? Anyone have any idea what it could be?

Thanks.

after I poped a curb with my rear end and after it was repaired by the dealer I discouverd a simmular sound... what it was in my cas was a rear sway bar bushing. becaus my car sat for a while at the dealer the bushing dried out and made a horrable clunk noise almost like what you would expect to hear if linkage of some kind was hanging...
the fix:
take your sway bar to fraim bushings off and put a little grease inside and reassemble... easy enough right... well my dealership charged me $87 for this repair ... less than an hours work "well our techs had a couple of hours into this repair for diagnosis" basically they didnt look for the issue they spent a couple of hours looking to see if they screwed something up with the repair then started looking for the clunk.......
the last time I have ever taken a car to a shop of any kind.

I would just like to state again..... a dry sway bar bushing will sound like a clunk or a pop as apposed to a squeek like you would expect.

When I first mentioned the popping noise to the dealer. They said that they have run into some noise from the struts on the Sti's because the suspension is much stiffer. That might be your problem. As for the noise in mine....I ain't got a clue.
