Question Knocking sound coming from rear left wheel

I have a 2006 STI and have had a knocking sound coming from the rear left wheel area for a few months now. The knocking occurs when driving at or below 30 MPH. Ive taken it to the dealership like 4 times here in San Jose and they said that they would replace the strut but found no problems when thay took everything apart. wouldn't just be better to replace the shock and strut and then drive the car to see if it goes away?

Call one the BAIC's friendly shops and see if they can diagnose it for you.

It is common for OEM STi struts to clunk. You can open them up and add some lube and it should go away for a while.

you can usually find low mileage used struts to replace the rear...or just do what we did and buy coilovers (=

A friend of mine has a 2008 STi with the exact same problem. The noise is most audible when he is both accelerating and turning at the same time, and below about 25, as far as I know. There is also a vibration associated with the noise. Each vibration is roughly a quarter second from the next, and the total time is about two seconds, depending on the level of acceleration. He claims the car has been making said noise for a few thousand miles now, even though the car has only 7,000 total. I'll have to ask him if he's had it checked out.

I have a 2005 STI and within the last 2000 miles I hear a slight knocking/clunk sound when I am rolling very slowly (under 5 mph). It is coming from the passenger rear. It is not predictably constant (like every wheel revolution) and at times I believe that I can feel the car move slightly when I hear the slight "clunk". I have a feeling that it may be a wheel bearing but have not ruled out a CV yet.
