The sound of knocking
hi
so far i have 3"CAI+K&N, 2.5" MRT full exhuast to muff. and proECM.
i've never heard knocking before so i would'nt know even if i heard it!
and as the muffler is loud now i've been wondering if it has happened on my car. does the N/A EJ25/EJ20 SOHC have knock sensors? i know the EJ20t has, but that cause its inducted.
can any one describe what knocking sounds like? cause in the cabin its a bit hard to tell. and at speed the wind is too loud.

you've probably heard knocking before...
You know those little 'ping's you hear after you turn your car off? there you go... if that happens while you're driving... thats bad. You are probably not knocking unless that pro-ecm is advancing your timing to a large degree and the other stuff is leaning you out. But i am no pro. JM2C.

Every EJ series motor has a knock sensor. They all use the same basic principle of advancing timing until the engine knocks and then reducing it a little bit.
