Before I go into what it's doing, I'll say I've had it for less than a week. Also, I hit a rather sizable pothole with the front right wheel about 2 days after getting the car, didn't notice any problems, but I've found it a bit unstable on the highway since. Anyway:

Car makes an odd knocking/scraping sound in reverse, and only when it's in gear, not when it's in neutral coasting backwards. It makes no such noises in any forward gear, and the noise appears to be coming from the front right wheel area. It worries me that it only makes this noise when it's reversing under power and not also when coasting. Does anyone know what this could be?

 

Ok, so now I'm not in the least bit happy....

I called the dealer today and they told me they're currently in the process of tearing apart my tranny. They said it's definitely covered by the warranty (as they damned well better, cause no one does much abusive driving in F@#king reverse).

I reiterate:

I have had the car for 10 DAYS

There are 981 miles on it

And this crap is still happening. I REALLY like the car, but this is just ridiculous. I've never heard of a problem quite like this one before, so hopefully it's a fluke.
