Install of coilovers went VERY wrong...HELP!

I was installing my Tein Flex on my 05 STi and after I installed the front two, I lowered the car. When i went to jack up the back to install the rears, I noticed fluid dripping out near the differential in the front The axle (i think) was pulled out of the differential. It's the green part of the axle, and it was definately pulled out, and I am at a loss of what to do. Someone please advise me on this situation because I have it up on jack stands, and I do not want to move it at this point. There is a huge puddle of differential fluid under the car. Is this repairable?

check if the axle pin is still in place. It will be on the smaller diameter portion of the green thing- a hole will be there with a hollow pin running straight through. Compare to the other side.

*edit*
It appears that the above advice is worthless because later scoobs have 'outtie' rear axles whereas my scoobasaurus has innies. Nonetheless, comparing one side to the other can be revealing.

I did compare one side to the other. One side is alright, one is popped out. The fluid drained. How do I replace the fluid? What brand fluid is good for diff.?

Thanks!

Rear axles don't have pins. You can just pop the axle back in place. It is held in place with a snap ring, so it will take some force / tapping to pop it back into place.

To replace the fluid, take out the drain and fill plugs with a 1/2 ratchet. Drain it all out completely. Then plug the bottom plug back in. Make sure not to overtighten it as you could crack the diff case cover. Then fill through the top hole until the fluid starts coming out. Put the plug back in and you are set.

For rear diff, you want to use whatever type of gear oil you prefer that was made for LSD's.

I popped it back in. The tranny oil is low. Is it safe to drive?

What brand tranny oil do they use from the factory? I just want to top it off, but the owners manual said to never mix oils.

Thanks!

Yeah, mixing is not good. I would drain it and then refil it with like Redline 75w90 or something similar to that.

Ok, your picture shows your rear differential, yet all I could gather from your post was that the front was the one leaking. Yet you show a picture of the rear, and you said you only installed the front coilovers. So can you explain please.

I got that picture off google. It is not my car...it was the only pic that I could find that was similar to the front. I used it for description purposes only. I installed my coils (all of them) and now there is a loud clunking when I take a moderately paced corner.
