brakes
hello i have a 2003 subaru wrx sedan. I have 18" wheels.i am thinking about getting new brakes but i don't want to spend $4000 since i am not racing or doing any street cross. This is what i want to get.
goodridge stainless lines, axxis ultimate pads, and the DBA or centric slotted rotors... is this a good setup? is there anything better, but not too expensive? also can i keep my calipers for this set up?? please someone help. thanks!!!

Yeah, I just realized after I posted, I hadn't driven my car in 3 months, and then I started driving, but after a few miles today I realized they very very seldom squeal. But you did bring up a good point, bedding the brakes is a really important process.

Please tell me the differences you noticed when switching from Hawk's to the Ferodo's. There's a guy selling a set of Hawks pretty cheap on a local St. Louis forum that I'm considering running in the winter. Any help will be appreciated.

Unless you just want slotted rotors for looks I'd stick with blanks. The biggest difference between blanks and slotted is that the slotted rotors will eat your pads much faster.

when I did my brake upgrade around 45K miles(at 82K now) I added Centric HP rotors for the front and rear. Unpainted hubs, and I got all 4(stock WRX size) for $110 shipped.
I bought Hawk HPS pads, goodridge lines, and MOTUL 5.1 fluid.
This was a BIG upgrade from the stock warped rotor/pad setup.
I've learned to really use my brakes more then down-shift braking, and started autocrossing.
I've yet to have an issue with the Haek pads, and centric rotors.
The only problem i've had with my brakes is that I seem to have melted the piston bushings.
