help! rear dms-40 install problems

just tried to install the 40's on my car tonight...
front went ok.. then the rear came.. =T
had 2 problems..
1. not 100% sure of order and pieces to include when bolting in tophat to the strut... out of the box the 40's had a nylon locknut, a washer, and a conical metal thing (spacer?) not sure what to put in.. i tried the strut->tophat->conical metal->washer->nut and the locknut would not thread down to the nylon (not locking)
then i took out the metal thing so i ended up with: strut->tophat->washer->nut... is this ok??
2. after installing driver side rear set... went to put on wheel.. IT RUBS!! i only have the gold washer (which is a PITA and i feel inaccurate for camber adjustments).. silver and black are non-existent.. i'll try adjusting the washer tomorrow ... but anybody have any tips???
info: '02 wrx with M2 Dms 40's using sti tophats with gc8 tophats in rear.. (with the adapter plates)
also.. i noticed the 40's sit at an angle in the rear..they seem to be leaning back.. is this normal? i was assuming the strut would sit vertically.. it sits like ---> /
thanks for the help!!

Its been awhile sense I put mine togeather but I'll try to help.
Do you have the install instructions?
All of the parts should go togeather like the pic I attached.
You will NEED the black washer. I only know of 1 person with the 40's who doesn't have an exessive ammount of rear camber. If the suspension worked the way they said (where you can use the black washer to get the most negative camber) I would have -5 deg or more of rear camber.
I had to use the black washer at full positive to get -1.5 deg. Also the angle of the strut is correct. It does look like -> /.

yep have instructions.. although not sure if its complete.. so many different sections (front, rear, GD to GC rear adapter, how to adjust, how to put together the brake line holder etc etc)
the thing is.. i have that diagram above.. but im missing the diagram for the rears.... if there is such a thing..
i played with my camber washers and it looks like only 1 side needs the black washers... the other side i was able to get it so my neg camber wasnt too much.. im considering camber plates for rear simply for more clearance (and peace of mind hehe)
another question.. the recommended ride heights from DMS.. it only says not to make it higher... im assuming that making it too low puts your shock at risk of bottoming out... but jeez.. i was hoping i could keep my dropped stance (i had mrt springs for last year.. they look great. just wanted a bit more tho hehe)
thanks for the help

Rear camber plates will make an anoying clicking sound when you hit something like a sharp bump. I have them on the front but the STI top hats on the rear.
You don't want to drop the car too low. First it will ruin the handling of the car and second it is not good on the strut. I have a 2 finger gap on my car and I think they can go a little lower. I actually had a race shop do an alignment and corner balance on my car so I don't know what ride height I have.
