H6 rear brake upgrade on 2005 WRX

I am looking to replace the brakes and figured I'd at least do a little upgrade... Looking to do SS lines, stoptech rotors up front, hawk hps pads, fluid and the H6 rear brake upgrade. I drive spiritedly, sometimes do track days and autox events and use this car as my commuter, not looking for a bbk on this car.

Has anyone done the H6 on a 2005? I have read that on 04's you need to install 02-03 pads....? Will I need 02-03 pads as well?

I have been researching this and couldn't find a definitive answer. Anyone with either a link to someone's experience or someone with experience doing this on an 05 please chime in. Thanks!

Hawk HPS are terrible pads if you do anything performance oriented with the car. They have absolutely no heat resistance and give you no warning before you have no brakes left. Don't waste your money.

How To's - H6 Rear Brake Upgrade

Forgot to answer your question: You need D770 pads.

I've done the H6 Brake upgrade on my 04 WRX wagon.

Yes, you have to use the 02-03 rear WRX brake pads, also you will have to trim out the dust cover for the H6 rotors to clear.

Hope this helps.

There's another option for the rears: LGT calipers with LGT vented rotors. I will be doing it on my Fozzy. If I am not mistaken, it does not require modifying the dust cover (not 100% sure on the dust cover part).

Forget the HPS pads too. On my 04 I used stock rear rotors with Mintex pads and SST lines and it made a MASSIVE difference without changing calipers or rotors.

I had Brembo blank rotors up front and found them to be pretty similar to OE, and the Stoptech rotors are Centrics which are also more or less nearly identical to OE. So basically if you aren't going with a more substantial rotor, just get whichever one you can find for less between OE, Brembo blanks or Centric/Stoptech. I got the Brembo blanks from TireRack on sale for about half the price of OE.
