evaluate my suspension mods Please :)

This is for my 03 wrx sedan. Im going to tell you my current setup!

Currently:
Progress Lowering springs (uncut bump stops) although they were suppose to me trimmed. (ageing shocks = bad ride)

Front and rear Cusco sway bars (rear in middle setting)

Falken aziens 225/45/17

Oem Sturts.

I need help in choosing how to complete the setup. Im thinking about getting endlinks, and rear camber bolts. The mayor problem i have is in keeping the Progress Lowering springs. I cant find spring rates on them and, although they ment to work with oem struts the quality is harsh because I forgot to tell the installer to mod the bumb stops.

Should I buy koni inserts and cut the bumb stops? Would the inserts be able to handle the 1.8in drop, unlinke the Kyb agx? My friend has a ek hatch with tein basics coils. His car has better ride quality and since ride quality is all ones perspective, Even if i get coils the ride quality will be better.

My friend also recommended me agianst matching up struts with springs because he said that its Trial and error process in matching the ideal spring rates with proper dampening. With coils he argued that companys have researched the components to offer you the aboslute best balance with handeling and quality. So coils take alota of the quess work out. I belive him because he has tried many springs/shocks combos on his honda only to be satisfied with the ride quality and handeling of the Tein basics.

My goals are light track use, because my car is my daily drive. I commute about 20miles round trip daily, all of which are on nice roads. I have saved 1500 for either a new spring/sturt combo if my progress springs need to be changed.. Or the same 1.5k towards the best coilover system for street/track use. I basically want my car to be as neutral as possible to have the best handleing. Right now I have a stong overstere, what set up will give me the most neutral handling, while getting a better ride quality then my blown stuts on progress springs. Thanks for the read guys any insight or experience can help me

What spring rates should i be looking for a good street coilover system? Also if i dont get the coils, i was thinking about matching my progress springs with some koni inserts. But i was discourage because i searched and found that the progress spings are "too low" Or "show springs" also i heard somewhere that the rear rates are alot stiffer then the front, which makes my car go sideways! I can confirm that under agressive driving my rear tends to shoot out ... Does anyone have a opinion on the springs.

I was searching for the spring rates and found this site http://www.progressauto.com/pages/04QR/04qrSubaru.htm

61.2310 [C]front i multiplied that by 1 N/mm = 5.588 lb/in = 342
62.2310 [C]rear = 347

i got the conversion from http://www.visual-assault.org/~eclip...u-Springs.html

should i just ditch these progress springs for eibachs? which have close to stock rates? Thanks for the read, pls help, Brian

I would go with the Tein Basic's. I have had the Basic's on my car for 2 months and the performance is awsome. I choose them mostly because i could not afford the Tein type flex coilovers but the basics are a good choice for a street set-up and moderate track use.

if you have 1500 for springs/strut setup, i would rather get a set of coilovers like the tein flex.

thanks for the reply fellahs. HksWrx how is the ride quality and the handleing characteristics on the basics? is it neautral/ over/understeer? Also what about maintenance? I actually have been doing plent of searches. Particularly last night for about 3 hrs straight. I came up with people saying that the Tein flex are way to stiff for a daily drive.

I found through gruppe s that the teins offer a spring rate of 280lbs, Also that would be very similar to the highly coveted whitelines coilovers in terms of spring rates. So, im guessing that must be good because everyone has good things to say about the softer spring rates on a daily drive.

My car is primarily daily drive. I dont really find it that appealing to be constantly changing the shocks, since i wont be tracking that often so since the basic only offer ride adjustment and are cheap, im really considering them. With the money left over i can buy those endlinks and alk and other suspension goodies. I figure i wont use the tein flex features plus the spring rates higher.

If i do decide to get really competitive then probably i would upgrade to coils with more adjustablity. Thanks windingroad and hkswrx to the input. More would be greatly apreciated

ps check out my questions on this tread also

My car is mostly neautral, but dose oversteer a little bit but.The oversteer is very slight as the car has almost no body roll. The Tein flex coilovers are awsome as a lot of people have them, but most people use them for a lot of track use. I find the Basics very good for the price and for the difference they made in my car (as before i just had lowering springs on stock struts.) Since i daily drive my car, the basics are perfect. If you are going to daily drive ur car, the basics might be a very good set up for your car. Althought, if you can afford it, i would look into some more of Tein's coilovers as they offer many different set-ups.

Many people also get the Tein Flex to install the EDFC with it. This way, you can easily adjust your ride depending on road conditions. I know you want a set-up that is daily-driver friendly.

the tein flex seems like a really awsome choice because the edfc i can make my ride quality soft or firm. Thanks for looking out ryan. But my concern is this, my friend just told me that with shock adjustable coilovers, "if you set them up properly you can have stiff springs but still have a comfortable ride"

And i replied with this, so your saying that with the flex and just adjust my shocks to get the best ride quality, Regardless that it comes with stiffer springs rates then the basics 5k/5k

is this really true, can i get stiffer springs to give better handleing, while setting up my dampers for "street" providing a decent ride quality?

BTW...DEFINITELY get both front and rear sets of End Links...they make a BIG difference with those swaybars!

are the Perrins Spherical Bearings any good? Will they fit with the cusco front and rear sways? I did some research and dont know to go with urethane or the metal endlinks.
