DMS setups are quite expensive, and intended for serious track use, as they are probably the most capable suspension available for the Impreza. If you just want a deep drop, however, you're better off hitting eBay.

40s are intended for about 30mm lower than stock to ~stock ride height.
50s rally length are the same in terms of ride height.
50s street or tarmac are ~2 inches shorter than stock, and therefore designed for a larger drop.
The streets come with 225/225, I think. The rally and tarmac higher, but you can order whatever you want.
The 40s are only capable of less than 300 lb/in springs max according to DMS. They come with 180/180. The M2 golds are 225/225 with slightly stiffer valving.
Be sure to read through some of the archives here and on nasioc about the customer service issues some people have had when dealing with DMS. It seems DMS recommends servicing ~once yearly and I have personally experienced lack of response from their customer service.

dude if you go and do a search on nasioc for dms you will get so much negative feedback it'll make you sick to your stomach.
supposedly DMS is now producing a "new and improved" version of the 40mm golds that allegedly solves the clunking issues.
they were so swamped with problems from the first batch of golds that they couldn't effectively deal with any one and i imagine they will be swamped for months to come so don't except stellar customer service. see if you can get ahold of them if you're serious about buying a set just to see how bust they are.
if you really want to do it right, i suggest going with the rally length 50s, as i have heard nothing but good things about them. they sho as hell ain't cheap so ya better start saving now.

JustinWRC,
The DMS 40mm Gold ride height range is a Max of 370mm and Min of 350mm for both front and rear. The measurement is from the wheel center straight up to the fender lip.
The DMS 50mm Giant have recommended settings from a Rally height setting of 395mm (Front) and 385mm (Rear) down to a Tarmac setting of 355mm (Front) and 360mm (Rear).
The spring rates can be tailored to your usage.
They also have recommended Wheel Alignment settings for each scenerio as well.
Hope this helps.

I have heard from people who have the new DMS Golds, and the response is universally very positive. One bloke got his about eight months ago, and put them on someone else's car to have him beat on them. He's still beating on them, and they're still quiet and smooth, with no stiction or other nonsense. Looks like DMS got things worked out for the Golds.
DMS is a superior product, but they aren't set and forget. Duh. No coilover is, unless you want frozen adjuster collars, etc.
If I wind up getting a Forester XT because of the STi Forester's not coming, DMS will be building me a set of custom 50s. I have driven two cars with 50s, in addition to my experience with the Golds on two cars, my Legacy GT wagon and my WRX wagon. The 50s are worth the price uptick from the Golds, but the new and improved Golds are also excellent, from what we hear...or rather, also from what we don't hear.
I would still take DMS over any other coilover out there, for the combination of handling and ride quality. Also note that DMS has taken steps to address the customer service issues that are the bone of many people's complaints about them. They now have two dedicated facilities that deal with the struts, as regards questions, maintenance, etc.
