Decent suspension set up
www.jdmpartstx.com Check out the Spec C. A good set up for street and some track. Check the suspension thread, another i-clubber recently got a set and loves them. The set up you end up running also greatly depends on how much you want to spend, how many components your willing to put on, and your opinions on NVH all factors to consider before doing anything to your car suspension wise.

Off the bat I'd get:
Rear adjustable sway bar (I prefer whiteline)
Rear endlinks
Diff locking bolts
ALK (Whiteline)
Rear strut tower bar (Whiteline)
New tires (S03's or some other comperable rubber)
This will firm up your set up for sure. If you want more, go with coilovers, but the ride, drop, ect are all very subjective and dependant on what you are looking for in a suspension set up.

Tires.
Upgraded front and rear swaybars.
Front and rear endlinks.
Some Springs.
Alignment.
If you are going to do the "occasional track day" or any serious mountain road runs I would upgrade the brake fluid, pads and get stainless steel lines. Something like the StopTech Stage 2 setup should do the trick.
It kinda depends on how much money you have in you budget.
The most effective things are the cheapest.
1. Agressive alignment (cheap way is to get a magnetic alignment doohickey and dial in more front negative camber yourself on track day)
2. Good brake pads axxis, bobcat, stoptech, whatever Lines aren't important, good fluid is.
3. Steering rack bushings
4. A separate set of rims with designated track tires You could run 215x45's on the stockers and get some pretty rims for the street. It would provide a gearing reduction and would be light weight; stock wrx rims are 15.5lbs iirc.
Swaybars, endlinks, springs, and all that jazz are tuning tools, many of them trade streetability for handling prowess, and stock suspension is much faster than poorly set up aftermarket goodies.

I am running this setup
whiteline flat out springs
whiteline anti lift kit
kyb gr2 struts.
It is still a work in progress but with cheap tires and stock adjustible rear swaybar the thing handels great on the street.
