Clunking in rear after coilovers

I recently got a set of used (5k mi) BC Racing BR coilovers. I had them installed and am now experiencing some clunking in the rear whenever I hit a hard bump in the road. It happens easier when I have people in the back seat otherwise its just major bumps. It sounds as if I have a box of books or something in the trunk.

The coilovers are 30-way adjustable and set at 17/30 in the rear. I did get an alignment after the installation and right now I have about a little less than 2 finger space in the rear.

Could it be my rear deck flopping around? I've tried playing with it but it feels secure.

Help me!!!

TIA

i have stance gr + pros on my 06 sti and i had clunking problem in the front when i hit bumps also, so i called up stance and they sent me a new camber plates, replaced them and make sure they are tight. And it solved the problem. I don't know if its the same thing with BC but i hope it helps.

yep or mine couldve been worst. coz it sounded like the 3 nuts on the top wasnt tighten at all but it was. i have some clunking coming from the back also but i tried adjusting the dampening to a bit softer and it went away. I dont know people said thats a problem about stance.

Ok, I think I may have found my problem... it might have been the cover in the trunk of the spare tire popping up and down. Maybe I'll soften up the rear to avoid it.

The thing wasn't properly set before and now I do still get the sound sometimes but not as often.

well if that doesnt fix it check the top nut. i bought my BC's new and were clunking in the front a little bit when i found the nut was loose. just tightened it up and noise is gone. Make sure proper preload is set as well. 30 in the rear!?!? Im set at 15f and 15r and the ride is perfect. Great coilover for the $. Hope you fix the noise
