Brake pads for MY03... where to find?
I can not find brakes for my MY)# wrx anywhere. Does anyone know where I should look. I was planning to buy the Axxis Ultimates but I am open to suggestions. I don't race so I don't need anything special.

I don't believe Axxis Ultimates were made for 03 WRXs (could be wrong). I changed my pads to Hawk HPS from www.mpjperformance.com. Hawk pads are available for 03 WRXs like ours.

The axxis rear pads will work with the MY03 wrx rears. However because of the caliper change for the front in the MY03 wrx the same pads will not work.
At least they all use the same rotors. ... until they change the bolt pattern on the WRX to 5x114
You could always get carbotech pads. I think subydude has them in stock.
let us know how it goes.

I have been trying to figure this out myself. Meanwhile my wear indicators have started screeching... So, I laid down way too much cash at [dealership] today for (cringe) stock MY03 front brake pads. This sucks, but oh well.
With as much confusion as there seems to be about what version of MY03 pads my car uses (apparently there are 3 different pad versions for MY03) I can't get any straight answers anyway, and - I need brakes.
I have been thinking of going with Porterfield R4-S pads front and rear, and replacing the front rotors since they look like ***. So n so at the dealer says DON'T use anything American made. Some people say XXX pads dust a lot, some say they don't. Some say Porterfield pads dust a lot, but unlike "all other" performance pads - their dust is not corrosive to the wheels. Some people say Porterfields wear out too fast. Some people say they don't. Some people say they eat rotors. Some say they don't.
Fock.
Can we get some facts? Maybe some conclusive data? Does ANYONE have different pads and some info about them? Maybe someone can reply to my post in one of the other threads? Haha..
Oh well, guess I am slapping my OEM pads in this weekend. They will get me by till I figure out what the super-whizbang brake pads will be.
Thanks,
Jacob

Carbotech makes 03 brake pad. You can get them from subydude.com or oakos.com. My friend did put the front one in couple days ago and it rocks. By the way, he got the bocat one.

Just bought Porterfield R4-S for my 03' WRX this weekend and waiting till my next oil change to put them in. I get so many diff. opinions on these pads as well. I fell a bit frustrated as well, but I will just do a "trial and error" (hopefully w/out major errors) approach in finding a good brake pad. Cheaper than the Bobcats, and touted by many to have great fade resistance when used for long periods of time, which is what attracted me to these pads in the first place. If anyone has these on their WRX, please post!
Thanks in advance

There are only two pad shapes for the front and two pad shapes for the rear of the WRX.
We are working on a sticky that will clearly define which cars have which pads front and rear. Until then you can learn more by going here: http://www.stoptech.com/faq/data/faq29.htm
