Brake Pad Dust
Have a 03' WRX sedan with 17" Montegi wheels. Very satisfied with look and handling of new wheels and tires [215, 45, 17, Z-rated Daytons]. I, of cource, have the chore of constantly removing "brake dust", to keep the wheels looking sharp. A couple of friends have asked me if I've considered installing "covers" over my brakes to cut down on "dust', and constant cleaning problems. Does this product exist? And, more importantly, are they effective and SAFE for this braking system? Any, and all feedback would be appreciated. Thanks, Collins

You could find pads that do not produce as much dust. However, covering yup your calipers is not a good idea since your brakes do get hot and if you do not allow the brakes to have some sort of air circulation, you could over heat them. Also, do not forget that you drive a performance car and therefore you will have to expect stuff like this. If you think your stock pads are bad now, you have not seen some of the other pads out there. If you were at all concerned with being safe you would upgrade to better pads, which will produce more dust but have better braking abilities. Basically the truth is, it is one of those things you just have to live with.
