Car Info: 96 Chevy Impala SS, 06 GMC 2500HD (former 02 WRX)
Gary : that would have been (most likely) Tom "SSmokybear" Frederico's 96 SS. Still a stock motor and tranny (not for long though....he's building a 396 cubic inch LT1 and putting a T56 6 speed in soon). However, the car has Hotchkis suspension and some FREAKING HUGE () 4-piston MOVIT Porsche brakes on all 4 corners!
Tom's a friend of mine and one of the big vendors in the Impala SS world, really nice guy!
I had hoped to make it to the Hotchkis track day, but unfortunately couldn't get all the little issues (not to mention, new race rubber ) situated on the Impala in time.......and the WRX would have burned off the (still) stock brakes in a matter of a few laps

I'm not sure if it was Tom. This was a fairly young guy and he already had a 6-speed gearbox in it. I remember him being concerned about brakes, so I don't think he had a killer brake setup at the time.
That's one big-a$$ car to try and hustle around a track!

Nope, that isn't Tom then. Not sure who that is, maybe Jared? Believe he has a T56 (6-speed), heads/cam 383 CI motor, and rollcage.....along with stock braks
If you slap some sticky tires on it and do the right suspension mods, the big old sedan handles surprisingly well. I know I've scared a few so-called "sports" cars during track days because I was catching them.....in the turns(!).....in my big old taxicab
