back tires rubbing ... help needed

here is the info

2005 wrx wagon
gc br coilovers
Technomagnesio detroit f1 rims 18x8

so i bought the Technomagnesio rims last night from someone on this forum because my tires blew and I wanted to upgrade from my stocks. But as i went for a test drive, i noticed the back rubbed (well actually rubbed so hard the rubber guard ripped off)

so today i raised the suspension up a bit today. but now i have couple questions

1) well it throw off the handling alot if i raised the back more than the front? (I raised the front 4 full circles and 8 in the back)

2) if the back still rubs, do i need to roll the fenders? or should i just raise it some more...

anyone out there run into these probs? please let me know ur solutions. thanks in advance!

1) Yeah. It'll tinker with handling a little bit. When you do different heights, you get slightly different weight distributions. My set-up is more dumped in the front than it is in the back. Makes my car a little more tail happy, so I can get a little more rotation in auto-x. Looking up corner balancing for more info.

2) It really depends on where the rubbing is occurring. If it is rubbing against the strut, you might need spacers. If it is rubbing against the fender, probably need to get the fender rolled. What size tire are you running? What offset wheels?

I really hope that you aren't running a staggered set-up. You'll be screwing up your center diff. Some people say that as long as you are the same diameter, you'll be fine, but I am not sure about that. If I remember correctly, the wagon is slightly less wide than the sedan. You should probably get the fenders rolled.

Depending on how many miles you have driven with your tire set-up, your center diff. might be shot. Rule of thumb for our cars, ALWAYS RUN THE SAME SIZE TIRE ALL THE WAY AROUND!!

Call GST Motorsports (510)264-9049 and ask them for the specifics of running your tire set-up. Or SpeedElement (510)226-8822.

As for people that do fender rolling, as far as I know, only LIC does it. (415)892-7400.

First thing first, call one of the shops and make sure that it is okay for you to run a staggered set-up on your car.

Rolling circumference between a 245 and a 235 shouldn't be an issue. Roll your fenders, increase the dampening in the rear if you can and run some camber.

I've heard different. Call the shop anyways and see.

One way you can see if your center diff. is gone is jack the car up on all 4 stands and spin the wheels to see if another one spins

I'm having the same problem on my 04 WRX wagon. I have the Swift Springs, running 225/45/17 tires.

See where you are rubbing. If you are rubbing against the shock/springs, you need to get a spacer. If you are rubbing against the fender, more camber, or roll fenders.

It's all in the offset if you rub, I'm running 235 45 18 all around.
Roll your fenders prob. a hundred a side and might crack your paint. But hey it's about the ride right? Anyway if someone said this already good call, but i didn't read above.

www.rollyourfenders.com

I rented this for a week and invited i-clubers over to use it and spread the cost. It was pretty easy. YMMV.
