04 STi strut mount noise issues... chapter one
for about a year and a half i have been dealing with noisy strut top(mount issues). this is my second STi and my 5th time changing my rear strut mounts. 2 times in my blue one. 3 times in the black.
being that they are made of rubber(which helps deaden some noise) apparantly they are also weak. from many discussions i've had with friends w/sti's all having aftermarket suspension. they all have the same noises. (buckling from rear over speed bumps, uneven driveways etc.) (currently is only on the right rear)
i have progress lowering springs, perrin rear endlinks, and progress rear sway-those are the only things i can remotely say thast might even have the slightest effect...
last week i just changed the 2 rear(again) and 2 days later the noise came back.
i have a feeling that maybe it is not the strut mount but something else. keep in mind that i work at a subaru dealership and that all avenues have been exausted and i am kind of frustrated(or more irritated) about the noises. i don't expect a lexus, but i'm beginning to wonder maybe its related to my lateral links? the noise is irritating but i'm more concerned about the reliability/functionality of it all.
*note* i do some hard driving on roads with funky camber so i know wear and tear is an issue.
i know the basics, but the reason for the noises have somewhat baffled me.
if anyone else has more insight please inform me....
