Warranty on Windshield

Will Subaru cover a cracked windshield? My car has less then 7500 miles on it and the windshield cracked today while i was washing the car. I guess it was hot and the water cooled it too fast but it was only about 65 degrees out and i've washed cars at much hotter temps. I've never had this happen before. It will be covered on my insurance but i dont want to make a claim. It seems like a windshield should be able to handle getting washed on a hot day.

Anyone had this happen or know if i can get it replaced by subaru?
thanks.

It can't hurt to take it to the dealer and ask. If there is a crack and no sign of impact there is a possibility it will be covered.

yeah I'd take it in and ask. it's not like you could do a windshield mod or something..though I guess they could try to get you for suspension.

Take your fingernail and run it along the crack on both the inside and outside. If your nail gets caught up on the outside, look really close and you should be able to see a stone chip. This would not be covered under warranty. If your nail gets snagged on the inside, check to make sure the glass wansn't cracked from the inside. If there is absolutely no stone chips in the area of the crack, you might have a valid arguement. Chances are you are going to find a stone chip on the outside of the glass where the crack started.

same thing if you use a pencil, a little more precise than a fingernail and fits in the crack better

Keep us informed... I really doubt they would warranty this but you never know. I've worried about the rear window in my '04, it's really thin.

UPDATE:
They wouldn't warranty it. Said they found a impact point so i had to go through insurance. No big deal if you have full glass coverage.
