USED STi, help me decide
Ok, I have a 2004 WRX with about 1700 miles on it. Today I found out the dealership I bought my car from has a used STi for $28,800 with 8,000 miles on the clock. Of course I am not going to pay 28,800 for the car once I get in there and start negotiating (I got my 04' WRX for $22,300 w/fog lights, wing, and security system upgrade). I also got 1.9% on my WRX, but I know I won't get that for the used STi. I have about $3000-4000 in equity in my WRX since I traded in my RSX-S for it.
The dealership is willing to give me a great trade in on the WRX to put me in this car, they are going to resale my WRX as a "demo" car or so the sales manager said on the phone. He pretty much said I won't loose my equity to get into the STi. I am willing to pay the extra payment of about $180-200 a month for the STi, as this was the car I originally went to the dealership for but would have only been able to lease it and I decided that was not the best route for me to go.
But then I keep going back to the fact that right now I can buy a brand new EVO for the same price, except with 5 miles on it. So if I am going to do this I have to do it tomorrow or saturday beacause I don't want to put any more miles on my WRX.
I know I am missing something here in my reasoning (since I am excited about the possibility of having an STi which is what I really want).
So what would you do????? I need some no bull**** advice here. Should I just keep my WRX and modify it, which is my plan, and then just wait till I can afford a new STi. Or should I get the used STi.

A demo car can be only a never titled car. So yes your car has demo like miles but it will not be sold as demo. Now a 04 WRX with 1700 miles you will get a huge ding in the resale. I see you losing thousands in trade in. Ask the people to tell you how much they will give you for your car. I see them giving you 20k. Plus an 8k miles STi could be a car that some one beat on. If you bought it from a owner maybe it would be bette. Be able to see and talk to the original owner. Maybe you will not lose your equity but I bet you will lose 2-3k of the money you paid for your car plus registration, plus taxes. My advise is keep your car, mod it to STi power for the 2-3k you will lose on the trade, keep it for 2-3 years and then trade it in.

You know after posting my question I just really thought about it, and I don't want to get rid of my car. I love it, and yes 300hp/tq and a six speed is awesome, but I just think I will be screwed over on the deal. Like you said I will take a huge hit in trade in, and I have such a great deal on my car right now that it is retarded to do anything else.
Nick= thanks for the straight forward advice, I appreciate it. I guess I am going to be getting that accessport and Turbo back exhaust after all. Again thanks.
