Help me decide
I am thinking a buying an uppipe for my WRX. I was wondering what affects this will have on my emmissions? I currently have a Tanabe cat back exhaust and everything else is stock, if I put on an uppipe will I notice any power increases while still running the stock downpipe I just want a few more tenths in the 1/4 and everyone is recommeding an uppipe. My main concern is my emmissions, could I put on the stock one when it comes time for a sticker or does an uppipe require welding? I was looking at the Gruppe-S uppipe, its fairly cheap and I like there service. Also is this somethign I can do in my garage or do I need a lift? Thanks for your help everyone
ALL uppipes are bolt on. no welding. it is a Pain in the butt job, but it can be done in a day.
emissions.... you probably won't fail b/c of the uppipe, from what i've heard, the uppipe is just to get the WRX into the LEV category. the main downpipe and midpipe cats, do most of the dirty work.

The up-pipe cats were only put in to meet cold-start emissions testing standards.
If you bring in a warmed up car (hard not to do
) then you *should* make it. Even in CA. Good luck.
