Tune Up Questions

I was doing a tune up on my 2002 WRX and found a few things that I wanted ask about from this forum.

While changing out the spark plugs I found this elec wire connector next to the wire for the washer motor. It was not plugged into anything, and I didn't notice any available connectors that it might be diconnected from.

Here is a close up of the nasty plug:

Sorry for the bad pic. I'm no photographer. Anyway If anyone can tell me what that plug is for and if I should be concerned. The plug looked very dirty and maybe a little bit of corrosion was present. Not sure why that would be if it is not being used for anything. Could this be for a rear window washer thing? Since I don't have a rear wiper or washer fluid sprayer back there?

So that was the right side of the engine. When I went to change the plugs on the left side I found a significant amount of oil spray around the left side of the engine block. Could that be a bad seal/gasket on the engine? Should I be concerned about fixing it?

That plug is for the rear washer on the wagon, the sedan uses the same harness so the plug is there. There is grease in the plug to protect the contact inside from oxidation, the grease will attract dirt over time. You can just ignore it.
