torque wrench suggestions?
torque wrench suggestions?
What's the best torque wrench to buy for someone that does light servicing to their car (oil changes, tire rotations, etc)?
There's about 15 different ones sold at sears ranging from 60 to 200 bucks that have different specs (accuracy, ft/lbs range, ft/lbs increments, etc).
I'm looking at getting this one

Craftsman Torque Wrench, 1/2 in. Drive
1/2 in. square drive Wrench measures 20 to 150 ft. lb. in 1 ft. lb. increments. Superior internal mechanisms reduce friction and provide accurate and consistent measurements.

i have two, a 3/8 drive torque wrench that goes from ~15 ft/lbs to 75ft/lbs and a 1/2 drive thats good from something like 30 ft/lbs to 150.
i'd choose a drive size based on what your best selection of sockets is, if you've got mostly 1/2" sockets, then by all means for the the 1/2" drive wrench. i prefer the clicker type, as oppsed to the gauge type, but thats mostly personal preferance and how hard you are on tools. that said, i don't think you could realy go wrong with the one in the link.
