hey, i'm thinking about buying a 2002 wrx for a little under 15k from a dealer
it has 66k miles on it

first off i don't know if that price is a little bit high or not

and are there any mechanical problems the 02 runs into or has had by 66k miles

Don't know if the price is high. Haven't seen the car. But, my 02 has 110k miles on it now with no problems thus far that were the car's fault. Stuff that was my fault doesn't count. So far, it's been pretty bullitproof. Oh, and my KBB price is about $10k for comparison.

My 02 has 143K miles. Stage 2. I've replaced the brake pad once. The tranny is showing some wear. Many of the early models have had weird CEL's for misfires. The engine isn't really misfiring but the cel comes on every once and a while. Otherwise the car is pretty much bullet proof. You really can't go wrong...I'd work on the price of the car you're looking at though.

 

I bought an 02 wagon new, put 50k miles on it and only had two problems:

- clutch judder - replaced under warranty, problem fixed
- fuel line cracked - just outside warranty

Otherwise, it was a great car.
