That looks too good to be true...very low price. I've got an 02 wrx. Since i've owned it I think there have been 2 recalls:

1) cruise control https://www.i-club.com/forums/showth...hlight=recalls

2) Seat rail https://www.i-club.com/forums/showth...hlight=recalls

Some people complain about clutch shudder on cold mornings. I don't believe they sent out an official recall, though they fix it under warranty.

As far as the tranny, it does suck compared to others but as long as you don't dump the clutch you should be fine. Also, the tranny issue comes up usually when you go passed the 300 whp mark.

Also, the "search" button is a life saver.

good luck!

Did the seller ever tell you why the price is soo low? If you get the VIN you can run it through to check if its been in an accident, salvaged, stuff like that urself. But if the seller never reported an accident it...no one would ever know. I may be overly cautious but hey, no one wants a junkie subie

Are they on I-club or any other forums? With some digging you might be able to learn more on the history of the car.

I'm sure the person has valid reasons for the pricing and whatnot. And in the end you may have found a really good deal.

aftermarket

this is pretty likely to be some sort of scam. Leather is not really offered from the factory, and while many people do put leather in, VERY few put in power seats, ESPECIALLY DUAL power seats. That would be VERY expensive to do. It's either a scam, or the car's salvage titled. An 02 WRX should sell easily with those miles for around 15K, maybe a little less. If he was asking 13K, I'd jump on it like it was the last boat leaving Pompeii, but at $7,500 He's full of $%!T.

Having just bought an 02 WRX, I would stay away from this one. It's probably a salvage title. I got mine with 36k on it, and paid $15900. The dealer claims wholesale was 16,900. Anything less than 12,000 sounds like something that is too good to be true.

option D

or D: is in jail for some sort of car selling scam, and is too busy dropping the soap to respond to your e-mail.
If you want to post up his e-mail I'll drop him a line, but I honestly think it's a waste of your time. You're better off without this car. If you want a WRX, pay the $15K that a nice one is worth, and have some piece of mind with your purchase. IMHO.

I agree. This car trades at the high 15's right now. Person to person it would be about 18K. These are for 03's by the way. Be careful and make sure you have the checked thouroughly before buying. A suby shop like Gruppe-S or MPJ or whatever is close in your area would be able to help you with that for a very small fee I would think. It's very rare to find one that has not been modified at all.

Good luck on the search.

Ms. Lovey,

Please make sure everything checks out before paying for anything. There were some threads discussing these types of transactions that were fraudulent. It escapes me right now where I read it, but be careful.

Yeah, the fact that he's overseas it kind of a red flag. The grammar isn't all that hot either, I dunno, just smells funny to me. If you were able to physically see/drive the car it'd be one thing, but sight unseen, I'd have to go with no.
