sti brake noise?
brake noise after washing car for first time sounds like grinding noise when braking. took it to subaru where i bought it they took off all four wheels and visually checked each brake pad and rotor as well as caliper. found nothing wrong mechanic drove it with me and said he still heard it too. he told me they hadnt had any other stis with similair noise while breaking.sent me on my way. problem continued noise still there so i took it to another subaru dealer closer to where i work.they had at least 8 stis new for sale and also perform high performance tweaks on wrx and stis.mechanic drove i t with me and said it was brake dust and that the brakes were working fine although he said he hadnt seen this problem before. he said that before washing wheels to let the car sit and cool down before washing brakes wheels as it may cause brake dust to stick to rotors. is this true or BS?

Don't sweat it. The rotors probably have rust on them at first mine do after washing it, they sound really bad at first but it kinda goes away they definitly sound like it is almost metal on metal. Even under normal braking mine squeak and sound kinda bad plus my brakes have a couple track days on them so thats part of my noise. But as long as brakes perform as they should just get a exhaust and that should drowned it out...
