OPINION PLEASE!! special internet price on 05 WRX
hey guys need your opinion... got quoted on the 05 WRX. waddya guys think?
from the email:
The 2005 Subarus are just now starting to arrive at our dealership, and we do have your 2005 Subaru WRX Sedan available with manual transmission, a beautiful Crystal Gray Metallic exterior, and it has an MSRP of $26,027. Of course, all Subarus have All-Wheel Drive all the time, ABS brakes, and Power Windows, Power Door Locks, and much more. This Subaru has several factory-installed accessories, which we should discuss when we talk. As an Internet customer, I can sell it to you for $23,577 after the Subaru Rebate.
If you wish to reserve this car so it cannot be sold to anyone else, all it takes is a refundable credit card deposit of $500.
good? bad? do you guys see any potential problems? Im not liking the part where he says "This Subaru has several factory-installed accessories, which we should discuss when we talk. " sounds like more money out of my wallet into his. thanks for your help guys!

Well, it sounds like he's going to sell you the car for $23,577 with all of the "factory-installed acessories" installed. You should definitely find out what those accesories are - several could be spoiler and boost gauge, or it could include short shift, sunroof, etc.
If it's just spoiler and boost gauge, I'd find out what the rebate is. I got my '03 WRX in Feb '03 with wing for $23,200, no rebate and I got it through the internet department at my dealer. If the price he quotes you is for multiple options, it sounds like a good deal, but I'd still try to find out the exact amount on the rebate (is it the $750 going around right now?).
good luck

well im afraid that when i get there, he'll say oh, its this added accessory package which will add another X amount of dollars onto it. Should i try to get it lower? or is this fair? im gonna email him back tonite and ask him about the rebate amount and also what the accessories are, and if they are included and if not, how much extra that will be... any other opinions?

rebate = $750 me thinks
some factory options are great... auto-dimming mirror is HUGE (believe it or not), short-throw is the bomb, and I love my armrest extension.
look em up on kbb.com for the exact cost of those options if he does try and stick it to ya

well yes up front it is and use it cause if u don't they'll make more money off u but in the long run cause subarus have a rebate that means that once u drive it of the lot u can minus the rebate on top of what u would origanally lose so that means wen u try to sell u car no matter what car it is as long as there r rebates the resale value drops and it makes ur car less valuble but the advantge for me as a salesmen is that its easier to sell the car cuz we can drop the price and u'll be happy cause u saved more money but a few yrs down the road wen u try to sell ur car cause u like a new one u won't get as much as u want for it.. look at neons for example i had a customer come in to our dealership to buy a wrx and he had a 03 neon r/t with paper plates and had it for a month wasn't satisfied with it (sorry can't spell) so he tried to trade it in. he bought his neon for $18,000 and kbb said his car was only worth like $10,500 and neons have big rebates so his car value dropped big time... but at the same time if u look at honda civic and wondered y they hold there value sooo much is cause there is no rebates on them and cuz there also built to last so it drops wen u buy a new one but not by much cuz u ain't gotta minus any rebates on top of what it will lose wen u drive off the lot so me personally i rather see subaru as a company get rid of all rebates and subaru models with reabtes will start hold there value more then if they had rebats

oh i see... i get it shagg... but im not looking to sell my WRX soon anyway, im gonna drive it into the ground. =P but thanks for the heads up. BTW just to update, the salesman said that he messed up on the quote and now the quote is
Thanks for getting back to me. The car I quoted for you has been sold, but we have another 2005 WRX Sedan in stock. It has manual transmission, a WR Blue Pearl exterior, Armrest Extension, Security System, Turbo Gauge, and an MSRP of $26,027. This is the only 2005 WRX I have in stock, although we are getting two more in June. (I do have several 2004s available right now; 2 silvers and a red).
The reason you liked my price so much is that I applied the $750 Subaru Rebate, which is avasilable on the 2004 WRX sedans, but NOT on the 2005s. So I have to take the rebate away, and your
quote is $24,327. I do apologize.
Bastard... getting my hopes up...

hmm..if it had a wing that would be a pretty decent price. I'd try to get em to add in a wing no cost for the inconvenience of having to receive an additional quote since they sold the first car. or something. I'd try to work some angle on em
good luck, man

good luck, man
