Shopping: 2005 WRX in NH
Ok, well my RSX goes off lease on Dec 21st and my parents new house in NH closes on Dec 17th so i plan on purchasing the WRX around the 18th or so. The reason for this is that NH Insurance is really cheap (quoted $850/year), and I need to have proof of Home ownership in NH to register the car.
So ive been talking to Belknap Subaru and Manchester Subaru. I'm looking for a San Remo Red 2005 WRX w/ Premium Package (Manchester has one on the lot). I also think i want to get the Boost Gauge, and STi Short Shifter since the throws on the WRX arent great stock.
Im working towards a 39month lease, $15,000mi/year, $3000 downpayment.
MSRP is $26,890
Invoice is $25,xxx
Belknap quoted me before any haggling a monthly price of $299/month OTD.
Manchester said they could do my offer of $24,000 OTD.
Ive heard its better to negotiate the buying price, than the monthly payments.
I havent mentioned the SS/Boost Gauge to either of them, but i dont think that will change the price. Especially since there is also a $1250 rebate available (may of been put into the prices by the dealers)
So guys, any advice? Im going to see Manchester Subaru this weekend.

Jus picked up an 05
Hey, I jus picked up an 05 Black WRX in NJ... It included: Premium Package, short throw, turbo gauge, security upgrade, moonroof deflector, armrest extension, auto dimming mirror/compass.... all of that i got for 26,125 OTD ... the msrp was like 28,500... Rebate(1,250) + the taxes and *BS* fees... it stayed in 26,625 ... i bargained the price down to 26,125 ... I hope this helps you, and good luck wit your new Scooby ... feel free to message me if you need anything, ohh yea.. Happy Thanksgiving!

why lease? ... do all you can to avoid that ... unless there's other circumstances involved .. i would suggest going with the 24000 OTD if you can that's a damn good price .. im not even sure i can get that price for a 05 wrx .. and i worked at the oakland dealership.

that would mean like $400+/month and a lease is $300 (or less)/month. Im in college, and trying to pay for this thing all on my own, so a lease is better for me. Plus i can always just re-lease it, or buy it out. so its the same in the end.

Update:
went to Manchester Subaru this weekend, test drove an '05 SRR Rex w/ Premium. talked to the dealer. trying to work out some timing details since we are closing on the new house on the 17th in NH, w/ registration/insurance and all. if all goes well i should have the car around Dec 10th.
2005 San Remo Red WRX w/ Premium package + Boost Guage & ShortShifter
= $24,850
MSRP is $26890, Invoice $25,813 or so plus $850 for the options/install. i got a great deal. its going to be about the same price per month for the Rex as my RSX (which has a cheaper MSRP).
and insurance is only $850/year!
cant wait to get her. and i wanna get "SNWDRFT" as the plate (Snow Drift). its awd, gotta have some fun in the snow. haha.
