I believe this is the transitional year for the Legacy. Are there any concerns with this model?
Major mechanical changes to worry about. Fuel, exhaust, electrical, drive train (if I'm correct, they don't do much change to drive train).
Thanks in advance.
Tryin' to bring another subaru owner to the family!!

great car
I just bought an '05 Legacy 2.5i yesterday... I've owned 2 subes before and they've been solid... this new one is sooo nice. The styling is edgy for a wagon, and the interior is pretty European looking IMHO. There's a great low growl when the revs are up at 4-6K from the new twin exhaust. It's even more fuel efficient than ever before. Awesome car. Your friend won't be disappointed.

I've owned a 2002 L Sedan and a 2005 GT Sedan, and I gotta say I love these cars. Even without the turbo in the GT, I still love the car. The 2.5i motor is essentially the same that was in my L. Its a good solid motor, and has more then enough power for the average person. As far as the 05 having problems, I haven't run into any yet with mine. I just rolled over 9000 miles after barely 6 months, and I can't be happier. I auto-x in the car also, so its not like I'm nice to it or anything. Mechanically, this thing doesn't seem to have any problems (knock on wood).
This model was out in Japan almost a year before coming here, so a lot of the major problems have probably been ironed out. Its a great car, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a good AWD car (sedan or wagon) for a good price where bigpower isn't a requirement.
