you should NOT rely on anyone else but yourself on what kind of car you want.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO IT RESEARCH WHAT YOU'RE BUYING BEFORE YOU BUY IT! i know that once you get your car (whether it's a WRX or RS) you'll be asking similar questions like these all throughout your ownership!
read: what kind of exhaust should I get? what kind of rims should I get? what kind of uppipe should I get? what kind of turbo should I get?...etc.
get the point?!
what I truly vote for is that you'll get that 94 Honda Civic that playa was talking about and rice the **** out! you could also look at what everyone else gots and make it look the same since you don't have any personality and you have to ask people questions like these constantly everyday since you've been trolling this board.
if you get a WRX or RS (
) make sure you research what you're going to buy. stop asking people to SPOON FEED YOU and take you by the hand to go and look for a car!Jon

Yes you probably can find a RS for cheaper they are the same looks wise as the WRX just don't have as much HP..But can be just as fun to drive. Here is the bodystyle they should have never gotten rid of..

Yes I know who cares what my old car used to look like I just love this body style..

theres not much i can add to jons flava and jeremiah's generosity-
except this-
insurance is cheaper on rs, gas is cheaper on rs.
other than that- everything else is common sense material.
a better question might be, to those who have owned a rs and a wrx...

hahaha...exactly what i was thinking.
get what you want...not what other people tell you to get. it's the only way you'll be truly happy with your car. getting a certain car because you wanna impress certain people or because it's what others say to get is stupid. if you like the rs, get the rs. if you like the wrx, get the wrx. plain and simple.

Mods, this thread needs some heavy editing to remove nonsense...
As an 02 WRX owner, I don't see any point in owning an RS unless it is one of the "classic" body styles. The 227hp of the 02-05 WRX models is *barely* adequate to drive an AWD sedan body; I don't mean barely adequate for racing or auto-X, I mean barely adquate for just plain daily driving. My 02 WRX (with a few minor mods) struggles badly when passing on the highway and has to be driven at 3500rpm+ to gain any advantage over the average car. The RS's 165hp, non-turbo engine coupled to an automatic transmission is a nightmare scenario when driving a 3,000lb body with up to 25% drivetrain loss of power. I imagine that the '94 civic being discussed on this thread would run circles around an RS with both cars stock.
Read through the Legacy forums and the Swap forum and look at how many non-turbo Subaru owners are desperate to add power -- even just a few hp -- to their cars. There's no reason to start the day with a cement block tied to your leg; if you don't have the $$ for at least a WRX, buy a used one or shop around for a nice Civic.

thanks for the help^^^ i think thats been one of the most useful posts on this thread. i heard that the reason why the wrx feels like there is no power is because of the turbo. and i am looking to get a used one because i really like the bug eyes. im thinking of getting the rs because i mostly drive in traffic and it fits my budget. its cheaper and i dont think im really going to boost it up for performance. i think im more of a ricer. sorry guys i cant help but like pretty things since im a girl. but i think when i do learn more about performance and all that, i probably will get a later model subie. but for now the rs suits me just fine. thanks for all the help ppl. can we close this thread now?
I have been and still is going through the car buying decision. I've gone through two RSs in the past (01RS 4EAT and 02RS 5SPD). I used to go to rallyx, autox, and TSD rallies and I miss them a lot and have been wanting to go back for the longest time. (So I know I am going to race if I am going to get a car).
My options were 05STi, 05WRX, or 00-01RS. After doing all the math (insurance, payment, gas, maintainance, etc), STi is out of reach. I can get an 05WRX, but won't have much money left for racing and repair (yeah, I know that would come). I don't like the new RS so I have to go with 00-01RS GM6. This way, I can have a pretty good car, still have money to race, mod, and repair if necessary. On top of that, cost of ownership is much cheaper and I LOVE GM6!
Now, that is just me and my situation. It really depends on your own situation. If I have the money, hell, STi will be in my garage!
Good luck with car shopping!

i just dont like the look of the newer models. the front just looks wrong to me. thanks for the late post. ive decided that the rs is a more practical choice for me right now.
