I am a WRX owner and know this site is generally related to WRX's, but I am thinking of buying a Forester versus Honda CRV in April or May. Any opinions?

 

i worked for subaru for the past year and a half. i am currently working for Honda... one simple major difference. AWD is superior on the Subaru. the Honda version of AWD is 90 percent FWD and 10 percent rear- until it senses traction loss. another major one is safety- the forester cleans house every year.
. but the CRV is no slouch either(curtain airbags)- it has more shoulder room and is a little more SUV (in peoples opinion) while the forester is still "wagon like".

in terms of horsepower the CRV is 160 @ 162 torque<improved
the Forester is 165 @ 166 torque.

keep in mind that the CRV is better in gas mileage and also has a more diverse pricetag- but then.. the Subaru has 2 nice things in its corner... supeior all wheel drive and a turbocharged engine(in XT)

every single forester client i have had.. no complaints at all.
the CRV.. is yet to be seen(i just started)

many of these things depend on your usage. As Gdogg points out, the main advantage of the Suby is the superior AWD. Depending on if you're a power nut who just needs space, Suby also has the turbo availability, which Honda has no equal to. A lot of it depends on what area you're in, what you use the car for, and what's available when it comes time to purchase.

 

I bought an 04 Forester used with 19k on it and full factory warranty for under
20 grand. This thing is an STI that seats four people and two dogs and is invisible to Johnny Law. You get thumbs up from other suby people when driving around, and can break off a little somethin' somethin' for the unsuspecting 350Z next to you if you have to.
