Smile Buy An Sti

Well I am currently toying with the idea of purchasing an 05 or 06 STI.....but before hand I would like some input on what the members here paid for either an 05 or 06 STI out the door...... and what are the expected monthly payments like..... I am gauging $450 - $500 with no cash down.....with excellent credit....I love the car's style and performance.....which renders it a good buy alone...being so I would also like to know if you are all happy with your purchase and don't regret it....Reason I have to consider it a bit more is that I have a wife and 3yr old son....we have an 03 Altima that we use as a family car now...but daddy wants something fun....is this car not too practical or is there others like myself that manage to have this car with their current lifestyle?

Well any input is much appreciated....and I hope I get some positive feedback that will facilitate my decision....

thanks!

I'd say you'd be in the $600's. If you are keeping the Altima, I'd say it's fine. I know some people will not like what I will say, but look at other cars in it's price range. You have a lot of options, but the fun factor might not be the same.

STi owners can tell you what payments they make but it won't tell you what yours will be. Some dealers are much more willing to negotiate the price of the vehicle first, which should take priority over talking about a monthly payment first. Negotiate price, then financing. If you can afford it, I like the idea of putting at least $2000 to $3000 down to make the monthly payment smaller, rather than trying to secure a super long term loan where you pay up the *** in interest. There are better things you could do with those interest payments when you have a family.

I always come prepared by getting pre-approved through my credit union (or whatever lender you choose) with a loan. That way, it gives me extra bargaining power when it comes to financing at the dealership. My friend's son just recently bought a used car. He thought he had a great credit record but it was only 'good' - I think his credit score was in the 600 range.

Be sure to call up your insurance provider before your purchase. Being married, owning a home, and obtaining most of your insurance needs from one company may save you money.

I bought my STI last year in April

And paid 500 over invoice. I then put 7000 cash down on it and had a rate of just under 5% or so. Loan term 60 months and my payments are just a hair over $500.00 a month.

That should give you an idea.

According to edmunds invoice for a 2006 is $31,044

+ $500 over invoice(standard deal now days)

+ $500 for destination fee

+ $250-300 license

+ tax @ 8.25% on $32344 = $2668.38 = grand total of $35012.38 out the door.

And that's for a bone stock 06. More if you add items like arm rests, wheel locks etc. With nothing down and assuming you get about 5% APR that brings your monthly payment to around $661.

Personally I would go for a well maintained 05 in black... but that's just me

I just happen to have one for sell that's in excellent condition...

PS:

I do love my car. It's completely reliable like my last 2 subarus. I have no complaints about my STi at all.

If you bought one and you can afford it you will be happy.
