Planning to Purchase a Daily Driver 2.5i impreza

Hello everyone,
I been lurking around the forum for past few months.
I am planning to purchase a 06 2.5i or 07, but that depends on the price.

The 06 2.5i MSRP priced at 19,795, is it possible to offer the dealer 17k or 16.5K OTD? The dealer is offering 500bucks off(i think, need to double check that) and 1000bucks off through SOA incentives.

The 07 2.5i MSRP is 19,495, with incentives it's still around 19k before tax.
I researched some sites and notice there invoices range around 18.5k, my question is what would be a good offer (OTD price)? I understand every state will be different, I would just like a general price range for a 07 2.5i.

Thanks for the input.

For an 06' you will obviously be able to bargain a bit more. Maybe expect to pay 17.5 for an 06' and 19k for an 07'.

thanks for the input, I figure the 2.5i would be a nice car as a DD.
I know the 06 been on the lot for a year so I figure the price 17k area should be a deal.
A wrx would be nice but right I am still in school and working part time, the financial strain will be too much for me to purchase the Wrx.

You could get a 2004/2005 WRX for that price range and extend the factory warranty, perhaps. (It's worth it!)

Update

Hi everyone,
thanks for the response, I appreciate all the help I can get.

Currently I am still suby-less(hoping to change that in few weeks).
I got some rough quotes (invoices) from one dealer, I am looking for 06's since the price can be had at a lower price.

The dealer invoice currently is 18,885 for a 2.5i with floormat as the only option.
The rebate they offer right now is 500bucks(dealer) and a 75 dollar internet purchase program(they give it only to customers neg. through the net I guess).
This is before any 06 incentives from SoA, I made some calculation for the OTD price(NY tax = 8.63%) and I come up with close to 20k.

I haven't emailed the dealer to get the OTD price from them yet, since I am still scouring the net for any 06's from dealers.

I am set on spending around 17k to 17.5k for 06's and around 19k for 07's.
I will keep everyone posted when I sign the papers.
