i have a slow oil leak on my wrx. i'm gonna look at it this weekend but is there any common places to look for that may be leaking? thanks.

 

I had a slow leak on my 02 Wrx it turnout to be a o-ring seal that went bad. Its that piece in-between the engine block and the oil filter. I think its the oil cooler. So the oil cooler o-ring was bad. When I was looking at my oil filter it looked like it was leaking from the filter. But in the end it was the o-ring. The Dealer took care of it at no cost. They said it was covered under warranty. Hope this helps.

Can you be more specific about the leak- are you just losing oil and assuming it's leaking, or do you see it dripping from a certain spot?

 

Yes my car was stock at that time. Good point Mulder. Do you see drips on your driveway? Or are you just low on oil when your checking it? The dealership service manager stated that is rare that the oil cooler o-ring to go out but it happens.
