SUBARU won't pick up the bill

i was cruising on the freeway, and ran into some traffic so i downshift to 3rd gear and as i pulled it into 4th i heard this noise coming from the tranny, i pulled over, and the car seemed fine so i proceeded on to the freeway and as i shifted from 2nd to 3rd nothing happened, it was as if 3rd was not there like if the car was in nuetral. and the car was still making some weird noises. i called subaru and they don't even want to pick it up from house cuase it has 43K miles on it. what should i do

Well, realistically there is nothing you can do about it. If your car is out of the warranty period Subaru is not responsible for damages to your car. Not that they take resonsibility for problems when the car is still covered.

Powertrain warranty goes through 60K miles. He should still be within the warranty period.

Powertrain is 60k miles/5 years, but the roadside assistance (towing) is only good for 36k/3 years. I think he'll have to pay for the tow to the dealer, and then the dealer will make him sign some paper to authorize the inspection, which says that if they found the problem to be not under warranty, he'll have to pay the inspection fee. Then the mechanic can check it out and decide if they can warranty the problem or not. They're not going to give the go-ahead to warranty a problem over the phone when he's out of the bump to bump warranty.

Maybe after the inspection he can try to get Subaru to reimburse him the towing cost, if it is found to be under warranty, I'm not sure about that though.

i talked to SOA today and they said that i have to pay for the tear down to see whats wrong with the tranny, SOA said that if 3rd is stripped like the dealer says it is then i have to pay for the repair. but if the gear is intact then they will warrenty it.

i don't know what to do now, this is gay

Warranty coverage is scary. Unless you are there when they are actually opening up the tranny to see the gear unstripped, you are trusting that they know what they are doing. Hopefully they know what they are looking for and they don't get confused with someone else's car. Remember this is not a cheap fix.

How many of us change our own oil (because we don't trust the dealer to do it right), but have to rely on Subaru for a problem with the transmission? We have no choice.

irvine subaru was good for me. I took my car in at 35,500 miles and told them that my clutch felt a little soft (it worked perfict though, never slipped once). They put a brand new one in for free.

i work at a volvo dealership and we get a lot of customers that want us fix stuff that has failed because of customer abuse. its not gonna happen. but, i have noticed that the dealership will authorize these kind of repairs on customers that spend money on non warranty repairs, like services and wear items. for example, there is a 60r owner that always goes there for brakes, oil changes, coolant flushes and so on. this one time he came in because his car would vibrate and heard a grinding noise. well, his exhaust was bent and it was rubbing against his drive shaft, which also had a dent. he said that he was going fast at a parking lot and hit a speed bump at 25 mph. the dealership "goodwill" the repair because he was a big spender. he got a new exhaust and driveshaft. no charge. a customer comes in because her convertible top was torn, warranty wouldnt cover it because she was 5k away from going out of waranty and she never spends any money there. i guess you gotta spend money if you want free work. kinda like you scratch their back and they scratch yours.
