My '02 WRX is rusting, wtf??

Hey guys. I own an '02 WRX sedan, and the paint is bubbling up on the weather stripping above the windshield. Has anybody else had problems with rust or anything?

I'll take some pictures later if needed.

I live near a coast but not on the coast.

I've owned two 10 year old F-Bodies before this and neither rusted.. it's ridiculous for a 4 year old car to be rusting already. It's got to be a defect of some kind. I bought it used, so I'm thinking maybe the original windshield was replaced and the shop farked up the weatherstripping or something.

Definitely bring the car in, the rust warranty should cover repairs. My muffler canister and the arms that hold it in place are rusting, the local dealer claims that a rusty muffler isn't covered by the warranty, just the body panels. Rust is totally unacceptable after four years.

Has the windshield been replaced? If it has, its possible that the installer did not reprime the pinchwell, allowing water sit and cause rust. When I checked out the pinchwell, I noticed that the guy didn't prime after my windshield replacement.

Thanks for the responses guys.

As I said, I bought the car used so it's definitely possible the windshield was replaced. I'm going to get it to a dealership some time next week.

Is the rust warranty seperate from a regular factory warranty?

Yes. Rust warranty is 5 years. But rusting on Subarus apparently is more frequent than on other brands.
