Lots of Smoke ...

I see, thanks for the input! I'll consider getting that the next time I come home from Japan. The fuel pump used to make some sound, but it was barely noticiable over the noise from the exhaust. But now, its very audiable over the sound of the exhaust. I don't think I'm imagining it, but I can hear it inside and outside of the car. I'm sure its louder than before. Fuel is getting to the engine, so I guess its not broken broken, but maybe just not in tip-top shape... It rained all day today, so, guess what.... Those darn spark plugs are still sitting in the passenger's seat! >_<;;

Not to be doom-and-gloom, but I still think you're going to find more problems than oxidized plugs and water in your gas. Lay out some fresh newspaper where you park the car and drive it for an hour or so, then let it sit overnight. If you get any drips, look for the color and location of the fluid.
If you have a fresh tank of gas and new plugs and still get smoke, it is time to take some oil and get it tested for having coolant in it I've been there!
BTW I've got an 02 WRX and my fuel pump also whines, though I don't think it is audible outside the car. It is noticeable, however, because of its location (under the rear seats, right up against the passenger compartment); in one of my wife's first trips in the car, she asked me if it was jet-powered because of how it whined on startup...

Lol, yea, thats a good idea. Unfortuneately, today is the last day I'll be in america before I have to park the car and let it sit again for a few months... Talk about trying to hold back a breaking dam.... I'm going to try to get it to where my family, who can't drive manuals, can at least start the car up and move it around on the driveway so I don't get my axles rusted again, like I did last time... I hope I can be back later this year...
The car was flooded in a hurricane 2 years ago, so yea, its got lots of problems in addition to sitting for 2 years. But so far the flood damage seems to be not so bad. The car starts and moves, thats a good start, haha. But I'm going to need more time to get everything back to the way it was I think, and certainly not one week.
Thanks a lot to everyone that posted. In one short week, we made an inoperable vehicle drivable again. Its not whole again yet, but its ok, definately a success I think. All this while giving instructions to a non-mechanically inclined person, haha! ^-^v
From now, I guess I would either sell my car, or get it shipped to Saipan with me, as thats where my next job is. Anyone wanna buy it? :b
