Looking Into an STi, Need some honest opinions.

I have been looking into getting a Subaru WRX STi recently, Went to the dealer yesterday with my mom, sat down figured down payment, and stuff, because they let me drive an 06 and I liked it alot so Im pretty set on getting one.

Only problem is the looks of the 06, I like the 04/05 better, but its going to be hard to pick from the two.

Either... Used, Most Likely Abused, but good looking.
Or... New, Un-abused, and not so good looking.

I want to know what common problems people have with these are. How reliable are they, and what kind of gas mileage do they get stock, and with basic mods?

What are the pros/cons of the car? How reliable are they compared to EVO's?

Basically I want it to be a quick daily driver, without having to launch the **** out of it. I know a few friends with subbys and they told me they are not too reliable once you get passed exhaust/tune and I should look into other cars. I know you guys are probably going to be bias being a subby forum, but I'm looking for honest opinions.

Any help would be great, thanks!

I'd rather get a brand new car than a used one, but that's just me. I like all my stuff to be new.

If u want more power mod for mod, the evo would be a better choice.

Subaru's are reliable. The people who told u otherwise probably abused their subarus or have friends who abused their subarus. Probably doing wrong mods such as putting cold air intakes, mbc's, and bov's on and launching it all the time. If u keep the car in good condition, it'll be as reliable as any other quality made japanese car out there.

As for gas mileage, depending on how heavy your foot is and precentage of city/highway, I'd say anywhere from 16 mpg to 22 mpg.

Welcome to i-Club.
Go with the car you feel most comfortable with and what fits your needs.
If you don't like the body style of the new 06 Subaru STI than get a 04/05
model instead.I have a 04 WRX and I very happy with it.My WRX is also very
reliable and dependable too.I worked at a Mitsubishi dealership before and
the service department was always full of Mitsubishi Lancer EVO8's with all
kinds of different problems and issues. The funny part is they always keep coming
back with different problems. In my expereince the Subaru STI is more dependable
than the Mitsubishi EVO8.Plus the EVO8 looks like a econo box and is very fugly in
my opnion. The Subaru STI has alot more style and looks to it.It's really funny because
the techs that worked at the Mitsubishi dealership I worked at alot of them drove Subaru's.
ALL the techs said that the EVO8 is nothing but a POS that will just give you problems.

You will most likely grow to like th 06's looks.

Besides....when behind the steering wheel....do you really see the face of the car?
