Getting into biking, need opinions

Not on what mountain bike I am going to get, more on what hitch mount is good, the realistic benefits between 1.25" and 2" receivers? And what hitch mount bike rack is good. I really want one that holds two bikes. So please, I welcome all opinions. Thank you.

Congrats, biking is really fun and great excersize.

As for the receivers, when in doubt, go bigger. It is better to be safe than sorry. Just make sure your stuff will be secure with whatever class hitch you go with. I would personally go with the 2" if the legacy has that option (pretty sure it does?)

I think it depends on what you want to do with the hitch, but if it's just for bikes, a 1.25" should be just fine. Otherwise, as mentioned above, sometimes it's safer to go bigger. As far as racks go, the best ones are where you just place the bike on a platform so they stand upright the whole time. Yakima has a few (http://yakima.com/shop/bike/hitch/stickup). I personally just have an on top of the car rack but I've heard the upright hitch ones are the best.

Good luck with the biking. I love going.

Thanks guys! I honestly do not think I am going to use the hitch for anything more than bikes. I am also a little concerned since the car is lowered, how far the 2" receiver will be to the ground. I have been doing a lot of research on this (unemployed) and am considering the Thule 990XT Doubletrack. It is comparable to the Yakima Stickup, but a little more expensive because it includes bike and hitch locks. Security is definitely one of the most important things to me. That and not having the bikes touch the car during transport (but thats solved with the platform style).
