Looking at buying an '00 2.5RS- Advice?

So Ive gone from an 06-07 WRX, to looking at Legacy's now to a 2000 2.5RS.

I liek the body style, and insurance is reasonable

Friend of mine is selling one, blue, 86k miles, auto.

I would prefer a manual, but I do make a 300mi commute every weekend, getting stuck in rush hour both ways. So Im half and half on an auto/maual.

They want around $6500 for it, has a carbon fiber hood, large fart can(which would need to come off), 3 after market wheels and 1 OEM, and a Panasonic HU. Also has an intake.

Friend's dad is a dealer, and they got the car with the 3 after market wheels and 1 OEM, dont know why.

What do you guys think?

Id like to do a STI swap on it (I have someone that would do it for me) but Id also like it to be a 5speed. (Has anyone ever swapped an auto for a STI trans?)

If I got it, itd get a new muffler (really dont care for the 3" outlets), maybe a header and a new set of wheels.

Want some opinions on it before I do anything. Its in my price range and looks good, Im going to physically go look at it today.

if you're doing the STI swap, go for the STI 6 speed, so much better. But I think some modification ont he body is required as the 6speed is a little beefier and likes to take a bit more room. STi swap can probably be done for about 7-9 grand, (I'm from canada so the price could be skewed a bit)

It probably has 1 OEM rim cause whoever had it last probably bent or broke a rim. Look for frame or suspension damage on all 4 corners to make sure it hasn't been in a serious collision. also look at the frame and subframe to see if anything is bent. If you know a bodyshop and a mechanic it might be a good idea to have it looked over. the 3 +1 rims sounds fishy to me.
